Getting Pregnant and the first steps
As you've read in the introduction text it is imperative that your
are emotionally and physically ready for pregnancy. And emotionally does
not just apply to the woman, the man has to be
ready as well, and
supportive of his wife/girlfriend. Speak with your
Obstetrician or
Gynecologist and let him/her know that you are
ready to get pregnant
and would like to discuss things personally.
You can expect questions
and some tests during this conversation.
The doctor
Make sure you meet your doctor 3 months before planning to get pregnant.
This gives you plenty of time to prepare for pregnancy. Blood tests are
needed to test you for several things, such as chicken pox. If you have
not been vaccinated for chicken pox, the doctor will advise you to get it
done. Sexual deceases can effect your pregnancy and the health of your
child. Go over your medical history with your doctor so there is a clear
picture of what could possibly cause problems in the future. Some people
wish to research genetic disorders, this is optional but is quite common
in certain countries.
Exercise
Besides eating healthy you should exercise. Exercise will strengthen your
body, which is very important during pregnancy and delivery. Fitness allows
you to lose weight and train your body. The fitter you are, the more your
body can handle. Please note that during pregnancy you will have to adjust
your exercise schedule. Your doctor will be happy to tell you what is is safe
and what isn't. So do ask him/her!
The act : Getting Pregnant
Now that you have read the above advice, we can discuss "the act".
Experts suggest that women who have a 28 day menstrual cycle should
start having intercourse 5 days before ovulating. Most of the times this is
9 days after your period beings. Having sex every other day is advisable,
until day 19. Your chances of getting pregnant increase significantly using
this method.
We wish you the best of luck!
